One of my favorite things about being a family photographer is watching families grow over time and getting to capture all of the fun milestones! Last year I met Skye & her husband Nick when I shot their maternity photos & then got to meet sweet Ellie while shooting her newborn photos. Now she is over a year old and I love how Skye wanted to capture her and Ellie’s relationship with a Mother & Daughter photo session. Moms don’t get to be in many photos because they are usually the one behind the camera. And we all know how annoying it is when you have family photos made and the baby smiles big in the photos with Dad but never with you… so this Mother Daughter photo session was the perfect time for Skye to rack up on great photos with her daughter. I love how they turned out!
When shooting family photos I try to capture the relationships between people in a playful way & as we all know, toddlers would much rather play than sit still and pose for photos! When new clients are coming to me for photos I want them to know not to stress when their children don’t want to sit still! Wouldn’t you rather have photos of you tickling, playing, and laughing with your child than sitting perfectly posed with a fake smile on their face anyway? Take a look below at the playful images I captured for Skye and Ellie! And make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom for the best photo of the entire session… capturing the true curiosity of a one year old!
If you’re looking to capture the playful relationship that you have with your child at this phase of life then please shoot me a message to book a portrait session!
